More than $10 million was invested to install a synthetic surface, as well as a new LED-type lighting system. Also, new bleachers that can accommodate 1,000 people have been erected, in addition to new protective nets for spectators.

“The modernization of the Gary-Carter stadium is excellent news for the borough of Ahuntsic-Cartierville. We will be able to host a large number of sporting events that will illustrate mobilization. […] The new field was designed so that teams of all levels can benefit from this extraordinary stadium in the heart of the borough,” said Ahuntsic-Cartierville borough mayor Émilie Thuillier in a press release.

The president of Baseball Québec, Maxime Lamarche, was delighted that this facility could be used by several baseball players in the region.

“Players of all ages will be able to use a superb, newly renovated field. With baseball growing in popularity for nearly 20 years, it’s time for baseball facilities to be upgraded to provide quality baseball for athletes, while ensuring they can play their sport safely.” , he said in a statement.

Gary Carter Stadium is also the home of the Montreal Orioles, who play in the Quebec Junior Elite Baseball League (LBJEQ).
