125 judokas from Ribera Navarra celebrated their end of course

The Judo Club Ribera Navarra brought the 2022/23 season to an end with its end-of-year exhibition on Saturday the 3rd at the Fontellas sports center. The event, organized by the club in collaboration with the Fontellas Town Hall, brought together 125 judokas between the ages of 4 and 50, from Ablitas, Fontellas and Tudela.

As usual, the youngest were the outstanding protagonists due to their spontaneity and authenticity. The exhibition began with a warm-up that included different movements, followed by the execution of Ukemis (falls), Uchi-komis (repetitions of techniques) and Nage-komis (throws).

In addition, different forms of training were carried out to improve the execution of the techniques. As a closure, fights were organized between the adult judokas and the younger ones, as well as confrontations between the students and their fathers, mothers, grandfathers, grandmothers, uncles and aunts, as is the tradition in this closing act.

Recognition of the effort of the season

During the exhibition, the coach Maika Burgaleta and her assistant monitors, Óscar Pérez and Janaina Lobato, honored the most outstanding athletes of the season by awarding medals and trophies to the Navarra champions.

One of the most outstanding moments of the exhibition was the execution of the NAGE-NO-KATA by the new black belts of the club: Alejandra González (1st Dan) and Yanira de los Santos (1st Dan). At the end, the coach awarded them the long-awaited black belts and also presented a trophy to thank the Fontellas City Council for their support during the season, which was received by the future mayoress, Erika Lasheras. In turn, Lasheras gave Burgaleta a bouquet of flowers.

All the judokas received a backpack, a kimonito to hang in the car (for the older ones), medals courtesy of the Fontellas Town Hall, and bags of potatoes donated by the Apex Group, as well as sweets provided by the Sensei (teacher). The club thanks all the collaborators, the older ones who helped with the placement of the tatamis, Vitotrans for transporting the mats, ‘Jotas’ for playing music in the exhibition and ‘Ceci’ for the photographs.
