WTA Madrid 2023, Iga Swiatek clearly defeats Kudermetova and reaches Sabalenka in the final

All easy for Iga Swiatek in the second semifinal of the WTA 1000 in Madrid 2023. On the Spanish red earth, the Pole dominates from start to finish against the Russian Veronika Kudermetova (seeded #12) and wins with a clear 6-1 6-1 in just an hour and 20 minutes of play. Thanks to this success the number 1 in the world therefore gains access to the last act of the tournament (which will take place on Saturday), where he will challenge Belarusian Aryna Sabalenka (n.2 WTA), victorious exit from the other semifinal against the Greek Maria Sakkari.

Ready, go and Swiatek flies quickly to 3-0 and 0-40 in his favor. With her back to the wall Kudermetova has a good reaction and incredibly manages to overturn the fourth game, winning it and thus taking herself to 1-3 in the score, but immediately afterwards the polenta hurts again and therefore shows herself superior. The consequence is the very clear 6-1 with which the first set ends.

On the wings of enthusiasm Swiatek also begins the second set with great determination and easily goes up to 4-1. After the change of sides, the Pole has a small empty pass in her turn of service and therefore sees her opponent rise to 15-40, but immediately after the 2001 class recovers and after four total break points canceled he climbs to 5-1. At this point Swiatek easily manages the seventh game and ends the match with another break.

The number 1 in the world ends the match with better percentages in terms of both first serve points won (71% against 50% of the Russian) and with second serve (68% against 37% of her opponent ). The total points won by the two tennis players during the match are 59 for Swiatek and 36 for Kudermetova, while the converted break points are 5/12 for the Polish and 0/5 for the native of Kazan.
