The Dohren Wild Farmers overthrew the Untouchables Paderborn from first place in the table in the 1st Baseball Bundesliga North with a 7:3 away win in game one of their two-game series on Saturday evening. Dohren scored all seven runs in the first three innings and defended his lead in the last six periods. The Untouchables got a third run after being down 7-2 early on, but couldn’t really catch up.

Wester Bocio made it 2-0 for the guests from Lower Saxony with a 2-run single in the first inning. Paderborn answered directly with a sac fly from Bjarne Reinhardt. But the Wild Farmers also stepped up and restored the old lead after a run by Przemyslaw Paluch after an error in the second inning. Again, the U’s countered thanks to an RBI single from Ladislaus Landwehr.

But Dohren still had arrows in his quiver. Four runs increased the score to 7:2 in the third round. RBI singles by Tim Knölke and Maik Ehmcke as well as an error and a sac fly by Robert Dröge made the preliminary decision. Paderborn continued to post baserunners as a result, but only managed to make up the result with Christiaan Beyers’ RBI single in the seventh inning. In the eighth and ninth round nothing worked and you had to accept the defeat.

Edvardas Matusevicius allowed three hits, two runs and seven walks in 5 2/3 innings with seven strikeouts for the win. Ivan Galkin completed the encounter with the Sava. Nicolas Göbert conceded the loss on the Untouchables side. After Florian Seidel was also unable to stop the Wild Farmers, Robin Buchwald and Benjamin Thaqi then showed good performances from the Paderborn bullpen.
