Club Badminton Cartagena makes history and achieves a historic promotion to First Gold.
The Cartagena club did its homework on the last day, with everything at stake and at home. With a bonbonniere dressed as a gala for the occasion, the volantistas gave their all and in front of their audience they beat Huesca, Bellaterra and Burgos, with which they manage to finish the First Silver league in second position.
The event took place at the Wssel de Guimbarda Pavilion on Saturday and Sunday. The first match played on Saturday morning would be key for the Cartagena aspirations since it was against the direct rival for promotion. The final result was 5-2, with victories in the mixed doubles, women’s doubles, the two women’s singles and finally one of the men’s singles.
With this victory, promotion was very close and that same afternoon they were mathematically certified, beating bottom club Bellaterra by a clear score of 6-1.
On Sunday, with the promotion in their pocket and after the celebrations, the Cartagena club managed to close the league with a victory, 4-3 against Burgos. The goal was finally achieved and thinking of continuing to grow next year in Primera Oro, a category in which it will be a pioneer throughout the Region.
The awards ceremony was attended by Álvaro Valdés, Sports Councilor of the Cartagena City Council, Pedro Caparrós, President of the Badminton Federation of the Region of Murcia, Mario Carulla, Vice President of the Spanish Badminton Federation and Miguel Ángel Díaz, representative of the Board of Directors of the Cartagena Badminton Club.
