Three days ago, FC Südtirol provided a football festival when Daniele Casiraghi sealed FC Südtirol’s semi-finals entry against Reggina in the 89th minute. Who would have thought that the white-reds would experience déjà vu so quickly and so spectacularly? In the semi-final first leg against Bari, Matteo Rover scored in the 92nd minute for a 1-0 victory – and the completely sold-out Drususstadion with its 5520 fans was upside down again!

This means that FC Südtirol will start the second leg in Bari, which takes place on Friday at 8:30 p.m., with a big advantage. The southern Italians must win to advance to the playoff finals, while a draw is enough for FCS.

For a long time on Monday evening in the Drusus Stadium, there were many, if not everything, pointing to a 0-0 draw. Both teams acted extremely tactically, nobody wanted to risk a tad too much, but there was a lot of midfield fighting and cramping. FCS, who played with a back three or five due to the absence of Andrea Masiello (elbow injury), had the Bari storm under striker Walid Cheddira and ex-Inter talent Sebastiano Esposito at all times. As a result, the Bisoli squad was on the ball comparatively often and also seemed braver offensively than the guests.

Not many expected that in this game, which flattened out extremely in the final quarter of an hour, but still a goal. But then the South Tyrolean fighter’s heart beat again: Cross Casiraghi, header Rover, escalation in the Drususstadion!

In a nutshell: the highlights

He has fireAfter 24 minutes, the waves rise for the first time – off the field. Bari’s Valerio Di Cesare goes down in front of the FCS bench and is reprimanded by coach Pierpaolo Bisoli. There was a war of words, with Bisoli loudly arguing with the Bari bench – even long after the game was back on.
Post!A murmur goes through the Drususstadion when Kevin Vinetot heaves the ball to the aluminum after a corner. But the excitement is in vain: a few moments earlier, the referee had interrupted the game (65th).
Riesen-DingThat was a great opportunity! Matteo Rover crosses softly in the middle, Odogwu puts it down very delicately, but Simone Mazzocchi cannot convert this penalty on the move and aims wide of the goal. He has to do that (75th).
And then came RoverThe game seems to be over, the stoppage time is ticking towards the end. And then Jolly Casiraghi circles a cross in the middle, where another Jolly, Matteo Rover, pushes the ball over the line – and causes pure ecstasy in the Bolzano soccer temple.
