When naming the squad yesterday, Slovakia still left the door open for two potential additions from North America – 37-year-old New York Rangers goaltender Jaroslav Halak and No. 2 draft pick Shimon Nemetz, who withdrew from the Calder Cup. The 19-year-old defenseman has not yet made his NHL debut, but in the AHL season he collected 34 (12+22) points and a positive utility of +13 in 65 games. Nemecd has played in two world championships (last year in eight matches 1+5) and one Olympic Games. Halaks has not yet given an answer about the world championship – he has not played in the world championships since 2011. The largest representation in the ranks of Slovakia is from the Czech championship (10), followed by the Slovak league (7), four players are from North America, two each from Switzerland and Sweden. A year ago, when Slovakia reached the quarterfinals, seven hockey players played from this team. Libor Hudacek has the most experience in world championships, who has been to six tournaments and earned 21 (8+13) points in 44 games.
