Ruud van Nistelrooij can soon start again as head coach. The former international decided last week to keep the honor to himself at PSV and to submit his resignation. English media report that Van Nistelrooij is one of the candidates to start at Leicester City next summer.
Seven years after winning the Premier League, Leicester City are back at square one. The Foxes were relegated to the Championship on the last day of the competition and will have to start building again next season. They will probably do that without the interim coach Dean Smith, who was appointed in April as the replacement for the fired Brendan Rodgers.
Leicester City’s adventure in the Championship will start in 68 days, but so far it is not clear who will be at the helm next season. British media have a number of names in mind that could potentially turn the tide at Leicester City and see the club return to the Premier League after just one season. One of these names is that of Van Nistelrooij. The 46-year-old trainer is of course no stranger to England due to his time at Manchester United, for which he played no less than 219 times in 5 years.

Van Nistelrooij is not the only trainer associated with Leicester City, as Jon Dahl Tomasson is also on the list. The Feyenoord icon narrowly missed out on the play-offs for promotion to the Premier League with Blackburn Rovers, but managed to impress with his way of playing. Whoever takes the helm at Leicester City, a lot will have to be done to get the team ready for promotion. It is expected that star players such as Youri Tielemans and Wilfred Ndidi will leave the club in the coming weeks.
