Ugo Coussaud, only second in Abu Dhabi

Very close to a second victory on the Challenge Tour in 2023 this Sunday on the Saadiyat Beach Golf Club, Ugo Coussaud (photo) consolidates his place as leader of the Road to Mallorca by finishing only second at -13 (275), one point behind the German Maximilian Rottluff, whose first start this season. Pierre Pineau grabs a top 20 (18th at -5).

Fifth on Saturday evening six strokes behind the leader, the Spaniard Manuel Elvira, Ugo Coussaud almost won this Sunday on the Saadiyat Beach Golf Club of Abu Dhabi thanks to a very solid card of 67 (-5). The French coached by Olivier Leglise even found himself in the lead at -14 at the start of hole 14 before conceding a first bogey in stride then a second at 17 after having however immediately rectified the situation with a seventh birdie at 16.

It’s finally the German Maximilian Rottluff30, second at -12 at the end of Moving Day, who snatched victory with a saving 70 (-2) including two final birdies at holes 14 and 15. In possession of a category 14, he did not had evolved more on the Challenge Tour since theEnglish Trophy on October 16.

The Scotsman Craig Howie and the Dutch Lars Van Meijel tied for third place at -12 (276).

After two consecutive 68 (-4) between Friday and Saturday, Pierre Pineau is content with a last lap in the par (72) and an 18th final place at -5 (283). This is his best result in the second European division since his 7th place in the SDC Open February 19. Further on, we find Benjamin Hebert et Clement Berardo29th at -3 (285).
