U-20 World Cup Results: Japan Wins, Israel Falls

Several surprises occurred in the match U-20 World Cup which took place Monday (22/5) in the morning WIB. Japan U-20 successfully beat Senegal U-20, while Italy U-20 managed to bulldoze Brazil U-20.

Four matches in the group phase will take place again on Sunday (21/5) local time or Monday (22/5) in the morning WIB.

Japan managed to start the 2023 U-20 World Cup with positive results. Japan managed to beat Senegal with a narrow score of 1-0.

Japan’s only goal in the match which was held at Unico Diego Armando Maradona Stadium, La Plata was scored by Kuryu Matsuki in the 15th minute.

This victory made Japan occupy the runner-up position in the U-20 World Cup Group C standings by picking up three points from one match they played.

In the other match in Group C, Israel fell 1-2 to Colombia in the match which was held at the Unico Diego Armando Maradona Stadium, La Plata, Monday (22/5) early morning WIB.

In this match Israel was able to excel in the 57th minute through Dor Turgeman’s penalty goal. Meanwhile, two goals for Colombia were scored by Oscar Cortes via the penalty spot in the 74th minute and Gustavo Puerta in the 90th minute.

Colombia’s victory has made them now lead the Group C standings by picking up three points from one match that has been played. Meanwhile, Israel is now in third place with zero points from one game.

Then from Group D, Italy successfully bulldozed Brazil 3-2. Italy managed to lead 3-0 in the first half through Matteo Prati’s goal in the 11th minute and two goals from Cesare Casadei in the 28th and 35th minutes. Meanwhile, two goals for Brazil were scored by Marcos Leonardo in the 72nd and 87th minutes.

Then from other matches in Group D, Nigeria successfully defeated the Dominican Republic with a score of 2-1. Now Italy leads Group D with three points followed by Nigeria with the same points.
