ISTANBUL (AA) – Galatasaray Nef defeated Türk Telekom 86-71 in the 2nd match of the Turkish Insurance Basketball Super League play-off quarter-final series, bringing the situation to 1-1.

The 4th minute of the match, which started with mutual baskets, was passed with a score of 9-9. Evaluating his opponent’s turnovers and empty attacks well, the capital representative opened the gap in the 7th minute with a series of 8-0: 9-17. Yellow-reds, Russell’s scorer game prevented the gap to open more. Although Galatasaray quickly closed the gap with good defense and Ennis’ baskets from outside shots, Türk Telekom finished the first quarter ahead 25-24.

At the beginning of the second quarter, Rıdvan Öncel came to the fore with his effective performance in Türk Telekom. The representative of the capital was ahead 38-33 in the 15th minute of the match. Continuing to score with Ennis, Galatasaray reduced the lead to 1 point (37-38) in the 17th minute. Grant and Semih Erden’s baskets prevented their opponent from taking the lead, and the blue-black team closed the half with a superiority of 46-39.

Galatasaray Nef, who started the second half of the struggle well, got the support of the fans behind him. The Yellow-Reds got a 10-0 series in the first 3 minutes from Sadık Emir Kabaca, Muhaymin Mustafa, Ennis, Göksenin Köksal and Caloiaro. Going forward 47-46 in the 23rd minute of the match, the home team continued their superiority with Sadik’s 3-pointers. Galatasaray carried the lead to 7 points (58-51) in the 26th minute. Although Türk Telekom melted the gap with Grant’s baskets and reduced it to 1 point (60-59) in the 28th minute, they could not take the lead. Finding a 9-0 series from Göksenin, Russell and Ristic in the remaining 3 minutes, the yellow-red team finished the third quarter ahead 69-59 with a margin of 10 points.

The hosts, who entered the last quarter with Russell and Ristic’s baskets, increased the lead to 12 in the 33rd minute: 73-61. Galatasaray Nef, who was ahead 73-66 in the 35th minute of the match, maintained its superiority in the remaining time and was victorious 86-71 on the floor.

Losing the first match in Ankara 94-85, Galatasaray Nef brought the situation to 1-1 in the quarter-final series.

Grant, who was the top scorer in the match with 22 points, could not prevent the defeat for Türk Telekom. Ennis scored 19 points, Sadık Emir Kabaca scored 18 points, Russell 17 points and Muhaymin Mustafa 10 points in the yellow-red team, where four players scored in double digits.

The third and last game of the series will be played on Thursday, June 1, at the home ground of the regular season leader Türk Telekom.
