Tunisian archers shine at Arab Archery Championship with 26 medals

Tunisian archers won a new gold medal, a silver and 2 bronze, during the closing day of the Arab archery championship organized at the Mustapha Eddouri stadium in Midoun (Djerba), to finish with a total of 26 medals (2 gold, 11 silver and 13 bronze).

The gold medal was won by Mariem Ben Dhaou in the Olympic archery event (junior girls U18), the silver medal was won by Rihab Al Walid in the same event (senior ladies) while the bronze returned to Sarra Hamza (U18) and Dhiaa Ben Romdhane (U18).

The competition which included two events (Olympic archery and compound archery) was nevertheless dominated by the Egyptian archers, ranked 1st, ahead of Qatar (2nd) and the Emirates (3rd).

Tunisian participation was limited to the Olympic arch included in the program of the Olympic Games.

Some 63 archers representing 10 countries namely Saudi Arabia, the Arab Emirates, Kuwait, Qatar, Iraq, Jordan, Sudan, Egypt, Algeria in addition to Tunisia (host country) took part to this 12th edition.
