Tschechoslowakischer Olympiasieger im Ringen Vítězslav Mácha has died

The only Czechoslovak Olympic wrestling champion, Vítězslav Mácha, is dead. He died on Monday at the age of 75. Mácha won his gold medal at the 1972 Munich Games, at welterweight. He was also world champion twice.

Vítězslav Mácha came from the municipality of Krmelín / Kermelin south of Ostrava / Ostrau. On the international stage, the wrestler drew attention to himself for the first time at the 1967 European Championships in Minsk. Mácha ended his career after the 1980 Olympic Games in Moscow. After that, he first became a coach, and from 1993 to 1996 he headed the Czech Wrestling Federation.
