Trey Lance says it was ‘amazing’ to train with Patrick Mahomes

The Niners quarterback talked about the time he spent practicing alongside the Chiefs’ star last March

Trey Lancequarterback of the san francisco 49erssaid that the training time he spent last March with Patrick Mahomeschampion quarterback with the Kansas City Chiefsit was wonderful to improve his concentration.

“Be able to be close to Patrick it was amazing. I learned a lot to focus on the right things. I was able to explore his brain and learn about the type of person he is, how he spends his free time, in the off-season and also more about his schedule during the season,” the 23-year-old said.

Lance trained a couple of weeks next to the Super Bowl LVII Most Valuable Player last March, during which time he soaked up the experience of the holder of two champion rings of the NFL with the Chiefs.

“It’s been an amazing offseason, being able to finally spend time back in football, training with Patrick and finally getting the chance to be with the guys again has been amazing.”

Lance started the 2022 season as a starter with the 49ersbut in Week 2 he suffered a broken ankle in his right foot that sidelined him for the rest of the season.

This is not counting the injury he suffered to the index finger of the hand with which he shoots, during the preseason of his rookie year in 2021, which made him change his technique to pass, to which he has had to adapt.

His recovery has been so long that the man born in Marshall, Minnesota, confessed that he is only a couple of months old.

“Probably towards the end of March, I would say that is until then when I was really 100 percent. The toe was probably a thing of the past and my foot feels very good. Today I think I’m ready,” he said.

The passer accelerated his recovery due to the possibility of being the starter at the start of the 2023 season due to the injury he suffered Brock Purdythe other Niners quarterback who finished his rookie season in spectacular fashion in 2022, but was injured in the National Conference Championship Game who lost to the Philadelphia Eagles.
