On Saturday 27 May the CONI Regional Judo Trophy was held, reserved for boys in the pre-agonist class born in 2011, which saw the participation of three athletes from Torre Annunziata. Luigi Avitabile took part in the 50 kg category finishing 5th thanks to a good performance despite a slight injury during the competition which did not allow him to perform at his best. Salavtore Vitiello, on the other hand, participated in the 66 kg category earning the gold medal by beating all his opponents by Ippon (the maximum point), leaving no space for his opponents to react. finally Vincnezo Avitabile conquered the silver medal in the 55 kg category. His performance was excellent, he only narrowly lost the final for the gold against a difficult but not superior opponent. In fact, the young athlete from the Meeting decided to participate in this race with only a week of training, after a long stop due to surgery. “Nothing can stop this little fighter’s determination!” commented by his team. Given the excellent performance, the 3 young athletes are hoping for a call-up to represent the Campania region in the national team final to be held in September.
