Tom Brady tackles misinformation

Tom Brady had to debunk a rumor about his future as a television analyst.

Last week, New York Post reporter Andrew Marchand said the former NFL quarterback was seriously considering giving up his contract with the FOX network.

“Sports Illustrated” picked up the news on its Instagram account and Brady took the opportunity to give the truth. Under the magazine post, he simply wrote: “FakeNews.”

The holder of seven Super Bowl rings has a 10-year, $375 million deal with FOX Sports. In May 2022, the 45-year-old had pledged to join the network’s team of experts when he was no longer at work in the field.

Brady announced his retirement as a footballer last February, but also indicated that he will not begin his television analysis career until the fall of 2024.

“I want to be good at what I do,” Brady said at the time. Last week I spoke with the folks at FOX Sports. The leaders are allowing me to start my opportunity at FOX in the fall of 2024 and that’s been a great thing for me.”

Brady played for the Patriots from 2000 to 2019 and won the Super Bowl six times with the New England club. He then joined the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and lifted the Vince-Lombardi Trophy another time.
