In his farewell year, Thibaut Pinot should not count on gifts from EF Education-EasyPost in this Giro.
Last Friday, Jefferson Cepeda was the big boogeyman when he refused to cooperate with Pinot in the leading group. A big fight between Pinot and Cepeda was the result.
A few days later, EF team boss Jonathan Vaughters added some fuel to the fire after a 2nd place from Healy. “I’m proud that Healy congratulated the winner and didn’t run to the journalists crying and saying life is unfair sometimes.”
“But I think Pinot can’t read this tweet because of all his tears,” Vaughters added.
Today there was a new (sporting) battle between Pinot and EF. When Ben Healy – Pinot’s biggest competitor in the mountains classification – attacked, the Frenchman reacted like a wasp stung.
Healy gave in and offered Pinot his hand with a smile. But the mountain king’s handshake was not really cordial.
