They use AI to make you fall in love in dating apps – El Sol de México

More than a third of people who use dating applications (apps) agree to use Artificial Intelligence (AI) to improve their profile and have more luck with matches.

According to a Tinder survey, 34 percent of respondents agree that people use chatbots like ChatGPT to polish their bios and attract dates. Since January 1 of this year, Tinder biomentions to ChatGPT have increased 14 times.

“Most 18-25 year olds agree that AI can work well, specifically as a first try to help highlight qualities,” the Future of Dating 2023 survey indicates.

In addition to improving profile building, AI can also be used to enhance conversations between couples, highlighting similarities and suggesting icebreaker phrases and topics, which can lead to more real-life dates.

While Tinder acknowledges the benefits that AI can bring to improve profiles and conversation topics, it also acknowledges the risks of using this tool to trick people.

Tinder has recently added alerts that warn users when its AI detects that they are about to send messages with inappropriate language, encouraging them to rephrase content.

These alerts have managed to reduce the number of offensive messages.

“The goal of this feature is to decrease in-app harassment and create a safer and more trustworthy environment for users,” Tinder says.

With this in mind, for applications like Tinder, the integration of Artificial Intelligence to this type of platform can be more beneficial for its users and to take care of their interaction in online dating.

PANDEMIC INCREASES APPOINTMENTS

During the Covid-19 pandemic in 2020, dating apps experienced a surge in popularity as people used them as a means to socialize and meet new people.

A study carried out by The CIU on the preferences of Mexicans in dating platforms revealed that 60 percent used a platform to meet people, of which 41.3 percent used one of the available dating applications.

Users usually use these platforms three to four times a week, and nine out of 10 have had at least one appointment, indicates The CIU report.

Online dating has become the most common way for single people to make new connections. More than 50 percent of young people under the age of 30 have been in a serious relationship with someone they met through apps like Tinder.

Another of the aspects in which Artificial Intelligence can help to find “the better half” are common issues and among those that have become most important among young people is mental health.

According to the Tinder study, about 75 percent of singles find a person who cares about their mental well-being, or at least shows a willingness to do so, more attractive.

“This is a generation that prioritizes qualities like intentionality and transparency, with self-love and personal fulfillment being a primary consideration.”

The platform’s study highlights that this topic is more relevant in young people between the ages of 18 and 25, since they are the most willing to be transparent and honest about their relationship with mental health, as well as to give it priority.

According to Tinder, there is still a lot to explore and develop in terms of the deeper implementation of AI. However, with these advances, they hope that more features can help young people find their ideal match.
