The XVII Cruise League of the Club Náutico Puerto Sherry will live its most supportive day this Saturday

The XVII Cruise League arrives this Saturday, June 3, at the equator, with the celebration of the Armada Española-Memorial CN Cervera Trophy, one of its most emblematic events that turns seventeen. Aside from sports, it will be a very special day, which will aim to raise funds and raise awareness about Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS), joining the ‘Sailing with ALS’ project promoted by the Classic Sailing Foundation. It will therefore be a unique experience for sailing lovers and regulars at the CN Puerto Sherry League, since while they do what they like most they will be contributing to this important and urgent cause.

ALS is a degenerative neuromuscular disease that affects thousands of people around the world, weakens the muscles and affects the ability to move and communicate in those who suffer from it. As the medical community works hard to research and treat ALS, it is critical that we all come together in support of those affected and their families. The Classic Sailing Foundation decided a few months ago to support research into this disease due to the example of the struggle of Nico Anglada Jané, a family member of great sailors, son of a well-known member of the Olympic team in Montreal 76 and nephew of one of the patrons of the Foundation. Nico recently passed away from this disease after more than four years battling the effects of it.

On this occasion, the organization enables a ‘Zero Line’ for all those who want to help and make a donation by transfer to CC/ ES71 0049 5545 1120 1000 1109 in the name of the Fundacion de Vela Clásica de España, on whose website there is also can be accessed to collaborate

In sports, the emotion is maximum, since after three tests the classification is adjusted to a minimum. At the head of the general ORC are three boats in as many points, with the BH41 ‘Taboga Cuatro’ of Aurelio Guzmán based in the RCN de Cádiz in the lead with 8 points, followed with 9 and 10 by the Grand Soleil 45 ‘Balboa ‘ by Alberto Rodríguez with the CN Sevilla flag and the new Swan 42 ‘Seabery Dralion’ by Basilio Marquínez and Nacho Zalvide from the same club, recently arrived from winning the V Málaga Sailing Cup Regatta on the Costa del Sol, third. With one point on the podium, the next contender is Salona 37 of the RCN de Cádiz ‘Sálvora’ owned by shipowner Pedro Agudo.

The tension is also maximum in the classification of the ORC A class with the same podium and distance, while in ORC B, ‘Sálvora’ enjoys five rental points over the J/80 ‘Aquaholic’ of Álvaro Arias, representative of CN Puerto Sherry, with third place with four more points for Salona 37 ‘Concesur-50 Aniversario’ by Javier Cañizares with the RCMT Punta Umbría flag.

In the Promotion class, the provisional leadership is in the hands of Ángel María Gutiérrez’s X412 from CN Puerto Sherry ‘Taboox’, with a seven and eight point lead over the Hanse 342 ‘Arrimo’ of Manuel Páez and flag of CN Sevilla, and the Brenta 24 ‘Coolwell-Tanguillo’ by Juan José Ocaña from the neighboring club RCN de El Puerto de Santa María, second and third, respectively. For its part among the boats with a Reduced Crew, the duel is two, between the Brenta 24 ‘Estero Blanco’ of Santiago Villagrán based in the RCN of El Puerto de Santa María first, with two points less than the RO330 ‘Maboran’ by Antonio Domínguez Plata based at CN Puerto Sherry.

For the solidarity regatta with the ELA this Saturday, June 3, the organization schedules a technical route (windward/leeward) of 8/9 miles for the ORC classes and a coastal one for the Promotion and Small Crew boats that may be of 8, 9 or 12 miles, waiting for the windy conditions. The departure horn for the boats is expected at 1:30 p.m. on Saturday in the bay of Cádiz, and from this moment on for all those who want to collaborate with the cause.
