The Vietnamese government will invite gold medalists to the Presidential Palace on Tuesday (23/5/2023).
However, among the list present, there were names of taekwondo and judo athletes who were not included in the list of athletes who were awarded Class III Medals of Honor despite having won three gold medals in different editions of the SEA Games.
Reporting from the Touitre website, in Ho Chi Minh City there are two athletes, Nguyen Ngoc Minh Hy from taekwondo sports and Le Anh Tai from judo sports who were not included in the president’s invitation list.
In fact, Minh Hy won the gold medal for the team number in three editions of the SEA Games at once. He also won a silver medal for the individual event at the 2019 SEA Games.
On the other hand, Tai won the men’s 90 kg individual gold medal in three editions of the SEA Games at once. He also won the mixed team gold medal at the 2023 SEA Games, the men’s team silver medal at the 2019 SEA Games and the mixed team bronze medal at the 2021 SEA Games.
