The Valencian basketball player Josep Pérez, accused of raping a young woman in Orense

Josep Pérez Tomás has been accused of an alleged crime of rape committed last January, when as a MoraBanc Andorra player the team traveled to Ourense to play a match. That is where the alleged sexual offense for which he has been denounced and for which he is already being investigated occurred. The Llíria player was requested to testify a few days ago at a National Police station in Valencia.

In a press release, The entity of the Principality indicates that it has made itself “available to justice” to clarify the facts, in addition to condemning gender violence “without fissures” and giving all its “support” to the victim.

On March 6, Josep Pérez signed for L’Horta Godella to strengthen the Valencian team for the final stretch of the season and the promotion phase from LEB Plata to LEB Oro. The team is linked to Valencia Basket, the joint subsidiary, and this Tuesday the entity has published a statement on the issue, noting that at the time of signing that contract with Godella, the entity was unaware that it had been denounced for an alleged violation: «Valencia Basket has now learned that a former player, who had a contract for the last weeks of the season with his linked team of LEB Plata until the end of it, had been denounced for an alleged violation months ago. The club condemns all types of violence and, ignoring the facts, reaffirms its confidence in the justice system so that it analyzes the situation and makes the pertinent decisions.».
