The tragic death of the 2-year-old daughter of American football player Shaquil Barrett

American football in the United States is in mourning after meeting the passing of Tampa Bay Buccaneers linebacker Shaquil Barrett’s youngest daughter.

Arrayah, who was only two years old of age, died, apparently, after accidentally falling into the pool of the family home in Tampa, Florida.

According to information from the city Police Department, agents went to a house located in Beach Park, in Tampa, at 9:30 in the morning on Sunday, April 30, after receiving a report of the fall of a minor into a pool. The girl was taken to a hospital, but could not be revived, so she was pronounced dead minutes later.

“It was a tragic accident and there was no criminal act,” Police concluded.

So far, neither the player – who is in the process of recovering from a torn Achilles tendon – nor his family have commented on the tragic event. Hundreds of condolences have been sent to the family, from the 2020 Super Bowl-winning team to the historic former player Tom Brady, who was a teammate of Barrett until last year, when he announced his retirement.

“Our thoughts and prayers are with Shaq, Jordanna and the entire Barrett family during this unimaginably difficult time,” the team wrote in a statement. “While there are no words that can provide true comfort at a time like this, we offer our support and love as they begin to process this profound loss of their beloved Arrayah,” they added.

Brady, for his part, posted a photo of the Barrett family with the message: “The Bradys love you.”

Arrayah’s death occurs just a few days after he turned two years old, on April 19. In fact, the player’s last post on Instagram was dedicated to his daughter: “Happy 2nd birthday, to my pretty girl. You are so sweet and adorable. You came to complete our family. I love you baby ”, Barrett wrote at the time on his profile on the social network.

Barrett, 30, has played nine seasons in the National Football League (NFL), the last five with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Before coming to the Florida team, he played with the Denver Broncos, with whom he won his first Super Bowl in 2015.
