The chairs of the sports management of Barça have heated up in recent times. Especially during the term of Josep Maria Bartomeu (2015-2020), there were constant profile changes in the structure responsible for managing the football area. In just five years, Robert Fernández, Pep Segura, Raül Sanllehí, Ramon Planes and Éric Abidal occupied positions of responsibility under the pressure of a winning dressing room and a board of directors exposed to criticism and vested interests. All but one—Planes—jumped ship before Bartomeu’s resignation. Far away are the more or less stable projects of Andoni Zubizarreta (2010-2015) or Txiki Begiristain (2003-2010), associated with the presidential figures of Sandro Rosell and Joan Laporta, respectively.
