Veronica Roth’s dystopian novel published in 2011, the action of Divergent takes place in a post-apocalyptic world where society is organized into five factions according to the dominant character trait of the people who compose them. Beatrice Prior, aged 16, grew up in a family of the Altruist faction but will join that of the Dauntless and is immediately noticed for her courage. She now calls herself Tris and, with her friends, breaks the ranks to become a “divergent”.
