The first coach of Pelayo Sánchez, winner of the last stage of La Vuelta a Asturias: “Another story begins for him”

Monchi Álvarez was at the finish line with some of his students from his school, the PCM Team Oviedo team. He was able to tell them that one of those who started with him had just won the finish line on Calle Uría, in Oviedo. After winning, Pelayo Sánchez came up to where he was and they gave each other an emotional hug with which they celebrated a victory that brought tears to both of them.

For Monchi Álvarez, this Vuelta a Asturias is a new step in his evolution: “His first dream, to be a cyclist, already happened; his second dream, to be a professional, is; his third dream, to ride the Vuelta España, has already been done And the dream of any Asturian is to win a stage in the Tour of Asturias, and on top of that he wins it in Oviedo, where he is from, with all his people. From now on another story begins for him”. A success that, says Álvarez, has enormous merit: “He is the one who suffers the roads, loneliness and bad moments every day, because to get here there is a lot of misery to go through first.”

For Monchi Álvarez it was also an important day: “We are talking about the fact that he is the first student to become a professional at the school, and he lived moments like these with me since he was little (the students he had by his side) and seeing him raise his hands in the goal…”, he concluded on the verge of tears.
