The Bucks will push for Monty Williams

About ten days after having fired their coach Mike Budenholzer, the Bucks continue to make an inventory of the candidates who can take over from him. Among them: Monty Williams, also thrown out the window by his Phoenix team recently, and who seems to be of great interest to Milwaukee.

In 2021, in his role as Suns coach, Monty Williams saw the Bucks shatter his dream of winning the NBA title. Two years later, he could well take control of Giannis Antetokounmpo’s team.

According to Shams Charania of The Athletic, Milwaukee franchise to be ‘aggressive’ in bid to recruit Montywhich should attract a lot of envy across the NBA – Pistons and Raptors in particular – after his generally successful stint (despite a disappointing end) in Phoenix.

The Bucks are very interested in Williams, remains to be seen if it is mutual.

Still according to Shams, Monty will take a break first with his family before really thinking about his future. Getting over a layoff is never easy, especially in a job as demanding as coaching, so Williams prefers to take his time instead of rushing into a new opportunity. Even if this opportunity is enticing, with a candidate for the title who has one of the three best players in the world in his squad.

While waiting to see if Monty Williams is considering an arrival with the Bucks, the Milwaukee franchise is testing the waters on other candidates: Mark Jackson has just met the Daims, and the names of Kenny Atkinson, James Borrego or even Charles Lee (Bucks assistant) are also circulating on the Cream City side to take over from Coach Bud.
