Due to constant rain, the Hamburg player’s third round game against the American Jeffrey John Wolf was canceled on Monday evening when the score was 6: 4, 3: 3 for Zverev. The duel is scheduled to continue on Tuesday. If Zverev, who is ranked 22nd in the world, wins against number 54 in the world, Daniil Medvedev from Russia would be waiting for him in the round of 16.

After the first set there was the first rain interruption for a few minutes, the two opponents stayed on the pitch. At 3:3 in the second set there was another interruption, but it was no longer possible to resume the duel.

Zverev managed a break in both sets in the first game. In the first round, this was enough for the 26-year-old to win the set, in the second half he immediately gave up his service game. At 3:3, the two opponents then disappeared into the catacombs.

Yannick Hanfmann is already safe in the round of sixteen. The 31-year-old from Karlsruhe won his third-round match at the Masters 1000 event against Italian Marco Cecchinato 6-4, 4-6, 6-3 on Monday. “It was very emotional today. It’s not easy to play against so many people here,” said Hanfmann after the win against the local heroes, who were loudly supported by his compatriots.

Hanfmann converted his second match point after 2:19 hours and will climb back into the top 100 in the world rankings. In the round of 16 in Rome, the Russian world number six Andrei Rublev is his next opponent.
