Table tennis Bundesliga: Düsseldorf moves confidently into the final

Record champions Borussia Düsseldorf have again reached the final of the German Table Tennis Championships.

The defending champion won the second semi-final of the best-of-three series against Post SV Mühlhausen 3-0 on Thursday evening, even without the injured World Cup third-placed Timo Boll. Anton Källberg, Dang Qiu and Kay Stumper scored the points as they did in the 3-0 win in the first comparison.

Only the Swede Källberg gave up the first set in a close game against Ovidiu Ionescu with his 3:1 (9:11, 14:12, 11:7, 15:13) success. European champion Qiu (11:3, 11:2, 12:10 against Daniel Habesohn) and youngster Stumper (12:10, 15:13, 11:4 against Irvin Bertrand) did not lose a set.

Saarbrücken or Ochsenhausen are waiting in the final

Opponents in the final in their own hall will either be Champions League winner 1. FC Saarbrücken or ex-champion TTF Ochsenhausen. Saarbrücken won the first semi-final 3-1 in front of home fans, the second encounter will take place on Friday in Biberach.

The final is scheduled for July 9 (Sunday) in Düsseldorf as part of the multisport championship “The Finals 2023”. Last year Düsseldorf won the title by beating Saarbrücken 3-2.
