Suspended sentences in Paderborn after tax fraud in the millions when selling masks

The Paderborn district court has sentenced two defendants to suspended sentences for tax evasion in the sale of medical masks and rapid corona tests.

The Paderborn district court has sentenced two defendants to suspended sentences for tax evasion in the sale of medical masks and rapid corona tests. The defendants, aged 30 and 35, received between one year and three months and one and a half years probation, a court spokesman said on Monday. The two defendants were accused of tax evasion in the millions.

According to the indictment, the two entrepreneurs are said to have imported and sold medical masks and rapid tests during the corona pandemic. They found two main buyers for their short-term imports. After submitting their sales tax returns from July 2020 to June 2021, the tax authorities had doubts about the complete taxation of the sales.

After ordering a special test, corrected pre-registrations were submitted, it said. The tax damage should amount to around nine million euros. According to the court, this has already been fully settled.
