Super Mega Baseball 4 Legends details revealed in new video

Super Mega Baseball 4 introduces baseball legends and redefines the gaming experience for baseball enthusiasts. The latest installment in the Super Mega Baseball series will feature historical baseball figures alongside the Super Mega League All-Stars, continuing the tradition of providing an everlasting baseball experience.

These legends will populate a new league dedicated solely to baseball greats, positioned alongside the Super Mega League and all player-created custom leagues. Legends are not only limited to this league, but also appear as free agents in Franchise mode when playing with a classic Super Mega League team or a custom team. Additionally, these Legends will appear in the Shuffle Draft, a new feature in SMB4, and also compete in the Pennant Race mode as weekly wrestlers in the Super Mega League.

The Metalhead team considered the possibility of bringing real star power to the series after joining EA Sports. While the Super Mega Baseball series has traditionally centered around fictional content, integrating real-world players presented a unique design challenge.

The team realized that Super Mega Baseball’s timelessness was key. Because the game isn’t tied to real events in the sport, it never feels out of date. This timeless appeal led to the decision to feature iconic players from different eras of baseball history, which fits perfectly with the nature of the series.

In partnership with the Major League Baseball Players Alumni Association, Super Mega Baseball 4 will feature over 200 baseball legends, including iconic players such as David “Big Poppy” Ortiz, Jose “Joey Bats” Bautista, Babe “The Sultan of Swat” Ruth and Willie “The Say Hey Kid” Mays.

The developers recognized the players’ attachment to the fictional teams and characters they have spent time with over the years and maximized flexibility. Players can enjoy any mix of Legends, Super Mega League players, or custom players and teams.

The Legends are presented in an all-new Legends League, an additional integrated league alongside the classic Super Mega League. This league will consist of eight teams organized into two Era-based conferences, allowing players from different baseball periods to compete against each other.

Several other game modes allow players to interact with a mix of legends, classic super mega players, or their custom players. For example, in Franchise mode, players can have Legends join the league as free agents over time. The new Shuffle Draft feature allows all players in a league to be reshuffled and selected from a pool of Legends, Super Mega League players and custom players. This league with its new rosters can then be played through in franchise or season mode.

Four Legends compete for each Super Mega League team in Pennant Race mode. Players must consider which team will benefit the most from these four players and factor them into their lineup for each game. This approach replaces the system in SMB3 where player mojo and fitness changed differently from race to race.

To get a head start on the action, players can Pre-order the EA SPORTS Super Mega Baseball 4 Ballpark Edition for a three-day Early Access period. However, this early access is not available on Nintendo Switch and the pre-order offer is only valid in the US and Canada for the PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5 platforms.
