SpVgg Unterhaching: Participation yes, license maybe – sport

It was about the FC Bayern championship and the dismissal of Oliver Kahn and Hasan Salihamidzic. As a former Bayern professional, the BR had invited Manfred Schwabl, the president of the regional league champion SpVgg Unterhaching, to the Blickpunkt Sport program on Sunday evening. And, of course, he was also asked how things looked now in terms of his own club’s license requirements for the third division. It was a bit bizarre because Schwabl said once again that it was still not clear whether the requirements of the German Football Association (DFB) could be met, but the Bavarian Broadcasting Company with an overlay in the background already for the transmissions of the two Promotion games between Unterhaching and Northeast champions Energie Cottbus advertised.

Decision-making takes a long time, which is why strange situations keep coming up these days. This was also the case last Friday, when Hachinger visited Schweinfurt for their last regional league game of the season and lost 2-1. The outgoing SpVgg coach Sandro Wagner (who has recently been linked with a return to his former club Bayern Munich, possibly as a U19 coach) was also confronted there in Schwabl’s absence with the question of what was going on with the promotion games. And Wagner replied that he had to take this question with him to Unterhaching because he didn’t know and it was a decision by the executive floor.

In any case, the Bavarian Football Association (BFV) has now reported the SpVgg as its representative. He apparently assumes that Haching will at least play for the two promotion games on June 7th and 11th – if not, the Würzburger Kickers or FC Bayern II could no longer move up from Bavaria. If Haching does not compete, Cottbus would then be promoted directly. Whether the SpVgg can then meet the conditions to participate in the third division in the event of actual promotion is still not one hundred percent clear, even if it is very realistic according to SZ information that they can meet the financial requirements of the DFB .

Because of Stefan Schimmer’s Hachinger past, SpVgg benefits from Heidenheim’s promotion to the Bundesliga

However, Schwabl remains cautious and repeats the mantra-like statement that under no circumstances will a financial risk be taken that would jeopardize the continued operation of the youth academy. Schwabl says that “a large part of the tasks” required for licensing have now been completed. He cannot be elicited more, because what he has always said applies: the youth academy must remain untouched and must not be used as security for the license.

At the weekend, individual media had speculated whether the license to play in league three might depend on the championship title for Borussia Dortmund and an associated subsequent bonus payment for the training of BVB striker Karim Adeyemi. Schwabl contradicts this when asked by SZ, although there was “a little something more” for the Dortmund title, as Schwabl said on Sunday evening on television. Schwabl confirmed to the SZ that at least the rise of 1. FC Heidenheim Unterhaching will benefit financially, after all, Stefan Schimmer is another former Hachinger in the squad there. Born in Swabia, he contributed to Heidenheim’s championship title in the second division with three goals and four assists. Schwabl is considered to be extremely clever when it comes to selling players and, above all, forward-looking when it comes to their future development, so he is happy to have additional remuneration fixed for him.

At the opponent Energie Cottbus, however, the hanging game around the Hachinger is critical. Trainer Claus-Dieter Wollitz spoke up on Whit Monday: “I appreciate the President of Unterhaching as a sincere, respectful person. But he also has a responsibility towards Energie Cottbus,” said Wollitz to Schwabl. In the online edition of Lausitz review Energy President Sebastian Lemke was also critical: “From our point of view, it is not possible to understand the reasons for this delay.” They finally want clarity “so that we can prepare for these two games in terms of sport and organization”. Meanwhile, Schwabl said he wanted to contact Lemke directly to give him first-hand information about the situation in Unterhaching.
