Six proposals for the second phase of the Tarragona Intermodal Terminal

The terminal has 150,000 m² and is expected to be active by 2024. This is a clear commitment of the enclave to rail transport, which complies with European Union policies that favor sustainable, competitive transport and boost to economic growth.

Among the works that will be carried out in this second phase, the connections at two points to the Adif railway network, the execution of the track superstructure, the installation of security and communication elements, the paving of the platform, the execution of the structures, electrification and catenary.

The project has an initial budget of 26,704,546.73 euros, VAT included, and an execution period of one year. For their part, six companies are participating in the tender for the second and final phase of the infrastructure works, which will become the main hub-type dry port in the center of the peninsula.

Moreover, this area is capable of channeling the main national and international flows of merchandise, since it is located in the Corredor del Henares, the most active area around the capital with access to more than six million inhabitants within a radius of 60 km.

On the other hand, the Port of Tarragona will be the headquarters of the Green Hydrogen Valley of Catalonia, having become a strategic structure for the arrival of hydrogen in this area. So, the headquarters will be located on the first floor of the institutional building of the port, that is, the same building in which the largest chemical industrial complex in southern Europe is located.
