Seven medals for Badminton Xàtiva in the Autonomous Master

The Xàtiva Badminton Club has won seven medals in the Autonomous Master of the Sub-15, Sub-17 and Sub-19 categoriesheld last Saturday in Enguera. Setabenses athletes one gold, three silvers and three bronzes were awarded. In the individual Sub-15 came the first metals. Martina Molina won silver in the women’s category after losing in the final to Sara Llopis, daughter of Olympic athlete Sergi Llopis from Seta. Xavi and Diego won the first set 15-21 and Meshack and Alexis came back winning the second and the third set 21-16 and 21-17, taking silver and relegating Xavi and Diego to bronze. In the mixed doubles, Martina and Feliu took bronze after falling in the semifinals against the seeded and Master champions, Leyre Simón and Lucas Vallés, by 21-12 and 21-16.

In the Under-19 category, Andrea Orquín and Vicent Molina clinched the gold in the mixed doubles, after beating all the couples without losing a set. Vicent also won silver in the men’s doubles, in which he competed with Ginés Vallés (CB Teulada), and they lost in the final against J. Pablo de Siano and Pau Muñoz by 21-15, 17-21 and 19-21. The brothers Marcos and Jesús Cimas also participated in the Autonomous Master.

5th place in Bahrain Para Badminton

Badminton Xàtiva also attended the Bahrain Para Badminton International 2023, held from May 17 to 23 in Manama, the capital of Bahrain. to the asian country the German athlete who plays for the Xàtiva club, Thomas Wandschneider, and Selenia Pla. Thomas and Rick stayed fifth in the international tournament from Bahrain for badminton.

Selenia Pla was playing her second international tournament and the first outside of Spain and competed in the women’s singles SL4 and the women’s doubles SL3-SU5 events. In doubles, she teamed up with the Peruvian athlete Jenny Ventocilla and they reached the knockout stage after overcoming the group stage. Selenia and Jenny lost in the quarterfinals to the Indian pairing of Parul Dalsukhbhai Parmar and Shanthiya Viswanathan by a double 21-10, placing fifth overall. In the individual test, Selenia was included in a complicated group in which she failed to win any match. Badminton Xàtiva has highlighted the two fifth places achieved by Thomas and Selenia in the Bahrain tournament.

Concentration Wanted Champion

CB Xàtiva was also represented at the II Concentration of the Sports Technification Program Champion Wanted of the Spanish Badminton Federation and the territorial federations, which took place last Sunday in Alicante. The Setabenses Meshack Martínez and Alexis Piñero participated, who were able to train different technical and tactical aspects of the individual events, with the help of the different technicians present. The concentration included 22 athletes from 12 clubs from the Valencian Community.

The Xàtiva Badminton Club will play next Saturday, May 27, the Autonomous Championship of the Jocs Escolars in the infantile and cadet categories, which will take place in Enguera. The Setabense club will attend the event that closes the school competitions of the 22-23 academic year with 9 athletes who will fight for the medals.
