Playoff Game 3 Human Chiusi vs Unieuro Forlì 2.015

A monstrous captain Daniele Cinciarini, 26 points on the scoresheet, drags Unieuro 2.015 to the playoff semifinal, where he will meet one between Udine and Cividale who will play for the pass in Game 5 on Thursday. Coach Antimo Martino’s team defeats Chiusi with a score of 76-89 at the end of a match that saw coach Giovanni Bassi’s team prevail from the arc (11 out of 23).

THE POST-MATCH – Coach Martino: “Historic result”

The mercurials suffer from the overbearing start of Luca Possamai first and Daniel Utomi then, they take command of the match, but on +11 they suffer the comeback of Umana with triples. Down by 5, Unieuro reacts with pride in the last quarter: it starts to score repeatedly from distance, overturning the 29-16 conceded in the third period with a run of 29-11, thus harpooning a well-deserved semifinal.

A team performance, as demonstrated by Fabio Valentini’s 15 points (5 of 8 from three), Lorenzo Benvenuti’s 14 (8 rebounds, six of six from the line), Lorenzo Penna’s 13 (5 rebounds and 9 assists) and Nathan Adrian (5 rebounds). Once again the Romagna players let their physicality prevail under the bridge (35 rebounds against 31 for Umana), while the defense forced Umana to 19 turnovers.

The match

The start is not the best: Unieuro misses from the paint (0 out of 2), from the arc (0 out of 3) and also from the foul line (0 out of 2), finding the first two points of the match with Adrian after 3′ 11 for the 6-2. It’s a Possamai in an on fire version: he alone scores for Umana, grabs 3 rebounds and is 10-2 after 4’15. After the triple of the usual Utomi, Penna takes the chair: not only an assist man, but also a scorer (13-7). At +8 by Utomi comes the first timeout by coach Martino. After Possmai, Utomi was the only one to score for Siena: but from 17-9 Unieuro changed gears, neutralized the hosts’ attack, prevailed under the planks and with a 0-12 run, enriched by two triples by Cinciarini and Penna, ends the period ahead 17-21.

The second quarter begins with three points in a row from Martini, but on the other side there is a wild Cinciarini: a triple and two out of two from the line bring the mercurials up +6. Adrian’s triple, well served by a Radonjic in the evening not from the arc (0 out of 4), is worth +9 (22-31). Possamai and Utomi keep going on target together with Bolpin and in an amen Chiusi is at -3. Coach Martino immediately calls timeout, Penna takes the team on his shoulders: assist man and scorer, Forlì is back on +9 (28-37). With Benvenuti’s two free throws, the guests find the maximum advantage before Utomi’s bomb on 31-39. The number 4 also becomes the protagonist of a block, he makes 1 of 2 from free throws, before the triple of +10 by Cinciarini on an assist from the usual Penna. The period ends point by point, with Forlì leading by 8 (36-44).

The third quarter opens with a new extension by the red and white, with a triple by Valentini of +11, after the dunk by the unleashed Possamai. An advantage that melts like snow with the triples of Utomi, Bolpin and Raucci bringing Chiusi back in the guests’ wake (47-49). Coupling that takes place with Utomi from the line after the third foul committed by Benvenuti. Interrupting the 11-0 break is Cinciarini from the line, who makes one out of two. But Chiusi puts his nose back on with heavy baskets from Raffaelli and Utomi, the latter always outside the perimeter. Unieuro suffers and it is captain Cinciarini who pulls out his claws, forcing the hosts to foul. But on the mercurial +2 Bozzetto takes the chair with 8 points which are worth the +4 for the Umana. The period closes with Ikangi’s three stamp of +5.

The last partial sees the providential triples of Valentini in response to that of Raffaelli and is 68 all. The battle is from the bow: Bolpin hits, but Cinciarini is no less and with two bombs in a row Unieuro is up +3. Advantage that becomes 11 with two torpedoes from the distance to set fire to the retina with the number 7 platinum blonde and Adrian for 74-85. It’s the exclamation point on the match: Unieuro thus gives themselves the semifinal.
