Perfil of the 1st stage of the Giro de Italia 2023: Fossacesia Marina – Ortona

This Saturday will start the ‘Pink Ride’ with a time trial on the shores of the Adriaticin the Abruzzo region, where only there will be seven Spanish runners, four of them defending Movistar, in what will be the time that fewer Spanish riders will participate in the modern era. It will be 19.6 km almost flat and direct, made for specialist riders.

The interesting thing is in the arrival, with the last three kilometers, where there are a climb of just over 1300 meters at 5.4%, followed by a descent of 700 m. Subsequently, a false ascending flat (2%) to the finish line, with a break in the middle.

Something that greatly complicates it to be repeated the feat of the podium of Mikel Landa from last year. Movistar, with José Joaquín Rojas, Carlos Verona, Óscar Rodríguez and Albert Torres, is present at this Giro with the intention of supporting the Colombian Francisco Gaviria.

Jonathan Lastra (Cofidis), Diego Pablo Sevilla (Eolo Kometa) and Luis León Sánchez (Astana) complete the list of Spaniards in the ‘Corsa Rosa’.

In the last kilometers there will be a final climb of 1300m at 5.4% to turn slightly downhill towards the Castello Aragonese where, after a steeper downhill section, the road turns left and climbs at 2% to cover the last 750m to the finish line. There will be a final stretch of 300m on cobblestones (7m wide).
