Participating in reality shows, an option for Lino Muñoz

The high-performance athlete in Mexico has also found an ally in reality shows that benefits them in popularity and, as a consequence, economically. Lino Muñoz is part of this experience. The badminton player has participated in two seasons and everything changed.

“I accepted, not with the intention of winning the program, it was to make myself known, to generate a little more followers and it helped me a lot. I went out and it was different. Due to the media boom, several things arose [patrocinadores] that helped me continue with my process to the Pan American Games in Lima 2019 and then to the Olympic Games in Tokyo 2020”, he shared, exclusively, for EL UNIVERSAL Deportes.

Throughout eight Exatlón seasons, more than 50 high-performance athletes have competed. Muñoz was in the second (2018-2019) and the second All Stars (2023), with different situations. In his first “yes” it was to support himself in his process towards Tokyo, and the second was thinking about his future.

“My approach was different, not only because of the scholarship issue,” he said.
