The team of the week in group C is Oltretorrente Parma, the first team capable of stopping Fortitudo on a draw. The ducals surprise Bologna in game one (5-4) at the “Cavalli”, with three points that will force Fortitudo to chase and then, in the ninth inning, celebrate the walk-off thanks to hits by Lori and Guglielmi. UnipolSai Bologna redeems itself clearly in game two (7-2) taking off, however, only after the fifth inning. Shakir Albert takes center stage in the box, while the award-winning Cuomo-Rivero-Robles cooperative takes care of the mountain.
Two braces in the other comparisons, by Godo (suffering in race 2) in Codogno and Padua (wide) in Verona.
In the Veneto derby, Padova solves the “Plebiscito” with two big innings of 4 and 5 points, with all the box scored and the Novello Talevi duo in evidence. Final 9-4. In match two again Novello is unleashed (3 hits) and Padova soon takes off to finish easily 8-3.
In Codogno, Baseball Godo wins the challenge for second place by recovering in game 2 in the last inning with a shower of hits first and the authoritative closure of Sabbadini (5 out, 3 strike out) on the mound then. Accomplices in the comeback two heavy defensive mistakes by the Lombards. The Romagnoli’s assumption was easier in the morning match, when Focchi brilliantly replaced the absent Galeotti.
