French Open qualification: Stricker, Waltert and In-Albon in the 3rd round

In the 2nd round of qualifying for the French Open, Dominic Stricker (ATP 116) defeated the Czech Dalibor Svrcina (ATP 228) in straight sets. The Bernese showed no trouble against the conqueror of Leandro Riedi (ATP 176) and won 6: 4 and 6: 1. The 20-year-old still needs a win to qualify for the main draw of a Grand Slam tournament for the first time. The 2020 French Open junior winner, seeded number 9, meets Argentinian Thiago Agustin Tirante (ATP 153) in the 3rd round.

Simona Waltert (WTA 127) and Ylena In-Albon (WTA 148) also survived the second round. Waltert from Graubünden beat Kristina Dmitruk (WTA 216) from Belarus 7: 6 (8: 6), 6: 2, while In-Albon from Valais benefited from the injury-related resignation of her British opponent Francesca Jones (WTA 316). In the third round, Waltert meets the French Elsa Jacquemot (WTA 175), In-Albon has to deal with the number 11 seeded Japanese Nao Hibino (WTA 112).
