NBA: Raptors would have met Steve Nash for the position of head coach of the team

Canada’s greatest basketball player is reportedly a candidate for the Toronto Raptors head coach job.

According to Shams Charania of The Athletic, Steve Nash met with the Raptors’ general staff to discuss the team’s head coaching position, which remains vacant after Nick Nurse was fired at the end of the season.

Nash, who grew up in Victoria, B.C., spent just over two seasons as head coach of the Brooklyn Nets before being fired after just seven games last season.

The 49-year-old Nash posted a 94-67 record as a coach and led the Nets to two playoff appearances.

A member of the Basketball Hall of Fame since 2018, he played 18 seasons in the NBA with the Dallas Mavericks, Phoenix Suns and Los Angeles Lakers. He appeared in eight All-Star Games and won the NBA Most Outstanding Player award twice in 2005 and 2006.
