National team captain Dennis Schröder flew off the field in the third quarter in the important game six of the NBA playoffs between his Los Angeles Lakers and the Golden State Warriors. The 29-year-old from Braunschweig conceded his second technical foul 6:20 minutes before the end of the third round and was not allowed to continue playing. At this point, the Lakers were leading 74:58 against the defending champion and in the end clearly won 122:101. Schröder was called up for the first time in the play-offs against the Warriors in the starting line-up and had played a very strong game, especially in defense, until he was kicked out. With the win, the Lakers decided the best-of-seven series 4-2 and are now in the semifinals.
Schröder conceded the foul because he had placed himself in front of his opponent Draymond Green after a point for the Lakers and provoked him. Green was also penalized for the scene with a technical foul. Schröder got the first technical foul early in the first half after Green fell over his legs and the Lakers pro then provoked him in the referee’s perception.
“When you play in the NBA, you fight, do everything, give everything. I just met Green, everything is fine there,” said Schröder.
