Mixed team highlight at the Ruhr Games

5,200 young athletes compete in 19 sports in 325 international and high-class competitions for gold, silver and bronze. After 2019, the North Landscape Park in Duisburg is the venue for this sports and cultural event for the second time. Four years ago, 110,000 visitors found their way to the old industrial site.

The slogan of the event is “Be there when it starts!”. “We want to combine culture, sport and youth encounters,” says Stefanie Reichart, head of the department for culture, sport and industrial culture at the regional association. Frank Jebavy from the management of the landscape park adds: “In 2019, the Ruhr Games already ensured a unique closeness between the athletes and the public. Sports and culture have taken over the entire landscape park.”
