A hit for history

There were two out and two runners on, Cabrera had a ball and a strike when he hit the ball with the crossbar to draw a straight line to center field.

Despite being a visitor, cheers and shouts of joy for Cabrera were heard from the stands. Even fans dressed in Cardinals colors recognized the Venezuelan’s record.

With that unstoppable, the maracayero propelled the second score for his club and reached 3,100 hits in his career. The Older Tiger also reached 1,851 RBI that night and was nine behind New York Giants legend Mel Ott.

Cabrera currently ranks 23rd among all-time MLB hit leaders. He’s just 10 more away from catching up with Hall of Famer Dave Winfield, and 15 from New York Yankees icon; Alex Rodriguez.
