Mid-trajectory: Vogel dies in baseball game

A curious and at the same time sad scene happened in Major League Baseball (MLB): In the game between the local Athletics and the Arizona Diamondbacks, a bird was hit by a ball – and didn’t survive.

Before the MLB game, the animal was hit by visiting pitcher Zac Gallen’s baseball in the outfield and died.

Disaster commemorates famous 2001 baseball incident

“The bird is no longer with us,” said the TV commentator, a self-proclaimed “animal lover.” The accident is reminiscent of a famous incident from 2001.

Back then, Hall of Famer Randy Johnson fatally hit a pigeon in a game during MLB spring practice, sending the feathers flying. The video has been clicked millions of times on YouTube.
