Messi is said to be suspended from PSG after Saudi Arabia trip

Welder champion Lionel Messi is to be suspended from top French football club Paris St. Germain for an unauthorized trip to Saudi Arabia. As the AFP news agency reported on Tuesday, PSG had opened disciplinary proceedings and wanted to exclude the superstar from training and games “for a few days”.

After the weekend, photos of the Argentine and his family from Saudi Arabia appeared. Messi is an excellently paid tourism ambassador for the kingdom, having fulfilled sponsorship commitments in the capital, Riyadh.

The 35-year-old apparently left a few hours after the leaders’ league home defeat against FC Lorient (1-3) on Sunday.

Messi’s departure from Paris has been discussed for months. Saudi Arabia could be a target with his eternal rival Cristiano Ronaldo currently playing for Al-Nassr there. A return to FC Barcelona also seems possible.
