After the Dane Holger Rune and the Norwegian Casper Ruud, Daniil Medvedev and Stefanos Tsitsipas also reached the semifinals of the ATP 1000 clay court tournament in Rome on Thursday.
The Russian seeded number three gave the German surprise man Yannick Hanfmann no chance 6:2 6:2, the Greek number five defeated the Croatian Borna Coric 6:3 6:4.
Medvedev and Tsitsipas meet in the semifinals on Saturday, Ruud has to deal with Rune, who eliminated the defending champion Novak Djokovic 6: 2 4: 6 6: 2 in the quarterfinals on Wednesday.
