AGI – There is a new stop for Marcell Jacobs. The Olympic and European 100m champion will not participate on Friday in the ‘Golden Gala Pietro Mennea’, the third stage of the Athletics Diamond League.
The blue sprinter, already absent last Sunday in Rabat following a ‘slight lumbar-sacral block’, is now forced to further postpone his seasonal debut. The painful decision was made in the evening and communicated by the organizers of the important event event to be held on June 2 at the ‘Luigi Ridolfi’ stadium in Florence.
The decision not to compete was made in consultation with the health sector of the Italian Athletics Federation. “Jacobs’ path to recovery from problem emerged in recent daysreportedly hasn’t fully completed yet,” Fidal said.

For Jacobs it is the third consecutive forfait from the ‘Golden Gala’. Since you won the Olympic gold on August 1, 2021, in the 100 meters you have competed very little at a world level. Only once to be exact, in last year’s World Championship heats in Eugene when, just before the semi-final, he raised the white flag.
The first stop came on May 7 last year in Nairobi when he was hit by a deadly intestinal virus which forced him to spend a few hours in the hospital. On 18 May 2022, 280 days after the Olympic feat, at the meeting in Savona, on Italian territory, the great and awaited comeback: 9″99 in heat and, an hour later, 10″04 in the final.

Prepared for the indoor season, the sprinter from Desenzano at the Assoluti in Ancona lost the 60-story title in favor of Samuele Ceccarelli. At the subsequent European indoor championships, Jacobs won silver behind a surprising Ceccarelli, who was expected on Friday in Florence.
Part of the mockery of the opponents
