Lionel Messi ‘will do the impossible’

The return of Lionel Messi to FC Barcelona is a great wish for many football romantics – including Pep Guardiola.

“He will do the impossible to return to Barcelona,” said the current Manchester City coach in an interview with ESPN.

Guardiola would be happy to see his former protégé return to Catalonia: “I’m a Barcelona fan, I have my places at Camp Nou.” The tactical fox hopes “that one day we will be able to say goodbye to Leo as he deserves.”

Guardiola: ‘He’s the greatest player of all time’

“Leo and his family will receive the love we all have for him as Barcelona fans, for all the gratitude and respect he has shown the club,” continued Guardiola.

The Spaniard coached Messi between 2008 and 2012 and won the Champions League twice with the ‘Blaugrana’. “He’s the greatest player of all time. In the last 12 years, Barcelona have had a ‘boom’ and it wouldn’t have been possible without him. And I’m not talking about numbers, I’m talking about his involvement in the game, that beauty, his efficiency, his Effectiveness, of everything,” says Guaradiola about the importance of Messi.

The Argentine didn’t deserve a farewell like two years ago: “Leo helped our club grow much bigger than he was when he arrived. When a person is that big, you have to say goodbye in the right way. He left the club because of very difficult financial circumstances and for a myriad of reasons which I will not elaborate on.”
