Land Norris, 2023 F1 Miami GP helmet is “beach ball”[F1-Gate.com]

McLaren’s Land Norris prepares a helmet with a super realistic design for the 2023 F1 Miami GP. He tried beach ball this year.

Balls seem to be trending when Lando Norris visits Florida. She wore a basketball-inspired helmet at last season’s Miami Grand Prix.

Following last year’s basketball fan favourites, Norris unveiled the helmet’s cool look by devising a “beachball” inspired design that pays homage to South Florida’s famous Miami Beach. He posted a photo of himself wearing it in the pool while holding an actual beach ball.

The details are elaborately designed to reach the “air valve” at the top of the helmet, and the name of the land, car number, “Miami 2023” and “Beach Ball” are engraved as well as the sponsor logo, literally inflatable. It is designed like a toy.

“We tried to step up in basketball, which was a fan favorite last year, so we had to come up with something that could compete with that. It was tough,” Norris said.

“I came up with a beach ball, and it’s fun. I wouldn’t say we do it here every year, but last year everyone loved it, so I wanted to do the same thing.”

Norris and McLaren are expected to do even better in Miami this weekend. Speaking ahead of Azerbaijan last week, Norris said of his plans to upgrade the MCL60:

“The team did a good job and so far we’re in good shape. But I think this is what we said we should start the season with. But now we have it in our hands. I was able to get it in. It should push the car forward, but it may not be the best circuit to prove it.You don’t see much at this circuit to help improve the car, We might see a little more in Miami.”

Norris, who is currently ninth in the drivers’ standings with 10 points, wants Sunday’s race to be more like a day at the beach.
