Julius Randle: “I respect Jimmy a lot”

Bad luck has meant that Julius Randle and Jimmy Butler suffered similar injuries while facing each other in the Eastern Conference semifinals. The Knicks All-Star couldn’t be in the first game and the forward missed the second. This is how the star of the New Yorkers speaks about his rival in the tie.

“I respect Jimmy a lot. You know what kind of player he is, but mentally you have to understand that he will be focused and committed regardless of how he feels and will be great. We just want to make things as difficult for him as possible and limit our mistakes,” he says.

After playing one night with Randle and another without him, Tom Thibodeau understands that this is a plus for his team, since they are now prepared for either scenario.

“The good thing about the situation that we just went through is that we played a game in which he was in and another in which he was not, so we know the style of play, what he brings, how they will be different when he is on court. We also know what they’ll play when I’m gone. You prepare for any of the scenarios,” says the head coach de New York.

With 1-1 in the tie, this is now in Miami, where the next two matches will be played. The participation of both stars (and the performance) may depend on who takes advantage.
