Campeche, May 6.- With the support and backing of the Quintana Roo Youth and Sports Commission (COJUDEQ), the state judo team participated in the “Tomoyoshi Yamaguchi” National Championship, held in Campeche, where athletes from Quintana Roo obtained a total of 11 medals (two golds, one silver and eight bronzes).

“Work is being done so that the athletes from Quintana Roo have a good preparation, since the CONADE 2023 Nationals are at their doorstep, the most important fair in the country, because it is part of the actions of the New Agreement for Well-being and Development, which promotes our governor Mara Lezama, we are supporting so that they can compete in competitions that give them experience”, commented Eric Arcila Arjona, president of COJUDEQ.

The Quintanarroenses who stood out the most in Campeche were the national champions, on the one hand, in the Under-21 category, the young Iliana Naomi Pozo Flores took gold in the 63-kilo division; another golden metal was through Isabella Dzul Rosado, who dominated the Sub-18 event in the 70 kilograms.

The only silver medal for the state in this contest was for Ariadna Chávez Medina in the 64-kilo division of the Under-15 category, who reached the final of the tournament, but in the end she was unable to win the championship and will have her rematch for the next CONADE 2023 Nationals.

The Quintana Roo team also harvested eight bronze medals that went through Gerardo Antonio Cruz in the 52 kilos; Tahly Molina Mayo in the 42 kilos division; in addition to Kenny Vázquez Cámara in the 43 kilograms; as well as Noemí Cardosa Salazar in the 48 kilos; Jocelyn Guadalupe Saavedra in the 53 kilograms; Ignacio Godínez in the 36 kilos; and Jadier Eduardo Urbina in the 48 kilograms, all of them competed in the Sub-15 category.

The last bronze medal was in the Under-18 category and was through Ian Díaz Espinosa from Quintana Roo.

“Sports is a priority in this administration and we know that in Quintana Roo there is a lot of sports talent, that is why everyone should have the same opportunities, no one can be left behind,” concluded Arcila Arjona.
